Which NB and NB-inclusive organisations would you recommend?

We are working with Beyond the Binary magazine to put together 2 lists:

1) Nonbinary specific organisations/resources that the mainstream trans and LGBTQ organisations should have on the webpages (we will then email them with recommendations)

2) Which trans and LGBTQ organisations people recommend as being inclusive and safe for nonbinary people to go to without awkwardness – we’ll keep this list on the beyond the binary website.

Where would you recommend?

New crowdsourced data website

We’ve partnered with MxActivst, Gendrr and Mx It Up to launch a website for crowdsourcing data on which companies have nonbinary-inclusive gender and title options and nonbinary-inclusive language on their guides.

We plan to use this for both:

  • helping people find companies they can use right now without misgendering themselves
  • co-ordinating campaign efforts to change companies policies in the future

At the moment what we really need is more data adding – you can tell us about companies who are inclusive, companies who aren’t inclusive and companies you really want us to campaign on changing. Go to http://nonbinary.net/index.php/addnewcompany to start adding information to the site.

Which companies do you want changing?

We’re going to prioritise getting changes from the companies which you tell us are causing you problems by refusing to offer nonbinary titles or gender options. If you’d like to suggest a company please add it here.

You can see a list of requests so far here.

If you want to get involved with persuading these companies to make changes, we’ll be starting this soon. You can join our mailing list, or follow us on twitter or facebook, to keep up to date.

We’ve also had a few added to our original google documents list where we don’t know what changes you want. If you added:

Southern electric, Natwest, BT, British gas, Next, Topshop, M&S, Appliance Online, Which, Sainsburys, Future Publishing (also can you send us a web link) or Student Finance

please get in touch and tell us what changes you want. For example do you want Mx as a title, or the option to use no title, or the option to select a nonbinary gender etc.
